Welcome to BRIGHTON

Information about BRIGHTON Brighton was once just a small fishing village that was almost completely washed away by the sea. Its fortunes changed entirely when its seawater was claimed to be therapeutic and the Prince Regent made Brighton his home. The town has never looked back. The Prince later became King and was famed for his flamboyant tastes and scant regard for costs. The extravagant buildings he commissioned are still in use today and they inspired a style of architecture which gave Brighton its unique character. Frequented by the rich and famous of nearby London, the town allowed them to escape from the drudge of work into a world of culture and enjoyment. This ambience is still very much in evidence today, and indeed it remains the playground of London’s high-fliers. Visit the Brunswick and Kemp Town Estates, outstanding conservation areas littered with elegant listed buildings. Enjoy traditional and modern seaside fun on the Victorian Palace Pier. Stroll along the new-look beachfront and boardwalk with its Artists’ Quarter. Or why not visit one of the many festivals such as Brighton Festival which takes over the entire city for three weeks each May. It's the largest arts festival in England and second only to the Edinburgh International Arts Festival in the UK. Komedia is the towns most innovative performance venue and is open all year round, providing a feast of culture and entertainment. Brighton & Hove is also known for the amount of performances, parades and visual arts that happens on the city streets.
